The earth is in trouble.
We are not only tackling a problem of enormous complexity, but a problem for humanity. The mother Orca, J-35 did us all a favor by driving this point home for 17 days, carrying her dead calf for all the world to see.
The Orca are starving to death for lack of Chinook salmon. The Orca are mammals not unlike us, on top of the food chain until that chain is broken.
It is not surprising that a transformational solution has arisen from a company and the people of the Northwest. We in the PNW boast a love for the outdoors and nature, an entrepreneurial spirit, and an expansive population of technological savvy people.
The problem of limited water resources and fish exists world-wide. There are over 1 million dams on the planet, including 84,000 in the United States. Superior selective fish passage changes the game.
What do we believe?
Whooshh believes we must embrace all clean renewables, including hydropower, and accelerate the switch away from carbon based energies as quickly as possible.
We cannot reduce hydropower production and expect that we will be able to produce a carbon free grid in the foreseeable future.
Nor can we expect the hydropower industry to assist if doing nothing is less risky for the operator and the agencies.
We must also recognize that with climate changes we will need reservoirs to assure sufficient waters for fish, crops, and energy throughout the year.
For those who do not live and breathe our mission every day, we will try to make it clear that you are not taking a risk by supporting our vision, and instead would be taking a much greater risk by standing still.
We must demonstrate that the impossible is not only possible, but it is our collective interest.
we are fish first innovators and clean renewable embracers.
what we know.
Food and energy are the two largest industries in the world today.
Fish are the main source of animal protein in many parts of the world, often providing over fifty percent of the protein consumed. Hydropower alone provides over fifty percent of the electricity in more than forty countries.
Climate change challenges the shared use of fresh water for fish, hydropower, and agriculture.
the earth is in trouble.
We believe in the climate crisis, and we believe that it is urgent. It's time to embrace all clean renewables as a global community, and accelerate the switch away from carbon based energies as quickly as possible.
We believe hydropower is an important component of the climate solution, and plays a crucial role in reducing CO2 emissions and the production of a carbon free grid.
We know that time is running out.
We want to do our part for the earth, the fish, and generations to come. That's why it's our mission.
The problem of limited water resources and fish exists world-wide. There are over 1 million dams on the planet, including 84,000 in the United States.
We create solutions that enable native fish populations to recover while simultaneously making more water available for hydropower or agriculture.
We understand that the world needs both fish and agriculture to help feed the planet and its ever expanding population.
for the earth, the fish, and generations to come.
For those who do not live and breathe our mission every day, we understand. The anxiety and complexity of the climate crisis and how to solve it affects us too.
But we know that as a global community, our greatest risk is standing still. So we will keep fighting for the earth, the fish, and the generations to come - and we ask you to fight with us.
