The Harvest Select™ works hand-in-hand with a pound net trap and consists of four key components: the ASPFishway™, the FishFaucet™, the FishlRecognition™ system, and the GateKeeper™. The system works as follows:
The ASPFishway™ is an adjustable fish passage device that can be placed within and at the upstream end of any commercial pond net harvest gear, such as a pound net. The ASPFishway™ creates a 10 cfs flow of water that attracts the fish to swim up the fishway and over the FishFaucet™ to escape the pound net trap. The ASPFishway™ can be adjusted to accommodate different water levels, fish sizes, and fish behaviors.
The FishFaucet™ is a gravity slide that connects the ASPFishway™ to the FishlRecognition™ system. The FishFaucet™ allows the fish to slide down smoothly and rapidly through the imaging device, reducing the stress and exposure time of the fish.
The FishlRecognition™ system is a real-time 4k imaging and artificial intelligence device that identifies and categorizes the fish based on their adipose fin and specific species characteristics. The FishlRecognition™ system captures high-resolution images of the fish as they slide through the FishFaucet™ and processes them in real-time with machine- learning algorithms. The FishlRecognition™ system then signals the GateKeeper™ to execute preestablished sorting protocols according to the identification results.
The GateKeeper™ is a mechanical device that sorts the fish into different fishway chutes, based on the signals from the FishlRecognition™ system. The GateKeeper™ can direct target hatchery fish into a commercial fishing vessel moored on the upstream side of the floating HarvestSelect™ vessel, while releasing the non-target bycatch wild/native fish back to the river to continue their migration without long delays. The GateKeeper™ can also sort the fish into different categories based on their species, size, or condition.
